Once again, I’ve been laid off. This is twice in one year. Jobs are tight, people aren’t spending as much money on Disney toys or concert tickets these days. I know I’m a smart, talented, loyal project manager; but, I am subject to the repercussions of economic failure – same as everyone else!
Zigabid has to let me go today. They let go of my co-worker and friend, Nicole, just a few weeks ago. People just aren’t buying event tickets right now. There is no work for me to do in the office. There are no projects to manage, and Customer Service & Tech Support only take up a short part of my day. Human Resource management also doesn’t take much time. Lately, we’ve all been sitting around, hoping for work to do and hoping business picks up; but, the founder can’t keep paying for us while we hope the company starts seeing a profit. I really wanted to succeed there. I had a great start there, but things fell apart when we launched with no success. Hopefully, they will find success in time. I wish them well.
As for me, I dipped into my savings just to work there. I was hoping that we’d do well and I’d be getting a raise once we took off. Well, that didn’t happen. Now, I have to survive off of one week’s severance. I really hope I can find a good job soon. I’m tired of being on the hunt. It doesn’t look good on my resume, but it’s not my fault. Will HR Managers realize that? I hope so!
In this economy, with more qualified individuals taking my possible jobs, it’s going to be rough. No matter what, I need to provide food and shelter for myself and the kitties. I really need to find work soon… wish me luck!
